Can metal roofing be used on a flat or low-slope roof?

Certain structural or mechanically seamed metal systems can be designed for low slopes, but common residential metal shingles and many snap-lock panels are not flat-roof membranes. Very low or dead-flat areas often require a membrane roofing system.

Where a steep metal roof meets a low-slope addition, coordinate the membrane and metal flashings so water exits over—not behind—the lower roof. Use contractors experienced in both assemblies.
