Premium Roofing for Eastern Ontario

A permanent roof made for where you live.

ROOFNOW™ provides Eastern Ontario homeowners and businesses with premium metal roofing, strong warranty options and customer service focused on making the roofing decision clear. Our goal is simple: help you choose a complete steel roofing system engineered to be the last roof you will ever need.

Eastern Ontario roofs face heavy snow, wind, ice, spring melt, humid summers, driving rain and repeated freeze-thaw cycles. Properties near the Ottawa River, St. Lawrence River, Bay of Quinte and smaller lakes can also experience exposed conditions that make correct flashing, drainage and fastening especially important. That is why we evaluate more than the exposed metal. Roof slope, decking, underlayment, ventilation, valleys, penetrations and snow movement all affect long-term performance.

Homeowners can choose architectural roofing that complements Ottawa-area subdivisions, Kingston limestone homes, Quinte country properties, waterfront cottages and rural farmhouses. Crinkle slate and shake-inspired profiles add texture and depth, while standing seam creates clean contemporary lines. Commercial and agricultural properties can also be matched with practical steel systems based on the building and its exposure.

WeatherXL crinkle finish metal roofing for Eastern Ontario
Crinkle-Finish Metal Roofing Low-gloss texture, architectural depth and premium steel-roof protection.
Premium Metal Roof Paint Systems

WeatherXL™ Crinkle and PVDF Kynar 500® finishes.

The steel profile gives a metal roof its shape, but the factory-applied paint system gives it colour, texture and an important layer of exterior protection. For Eastern Ontario homeowners comparing premium metal roofing, ROOFNOW™ offers access to WeatherXL™ Crinkle finishes and qualifying PVDF coating options formulated with Kynar 500® resin.

These are two different coating families. WeatherXL Crinkle is a siliconized modified polyester, commonly called SMP, with a textured low-gloss surface. A Kynar 500 resin-based coating is a PVDF architectural finish produced through approved coating formulators and factory applicators. The correct option depends on the roofing profile, colour, steel gauge, property design, exposure and manufacturer’s available specification.

ROOFNOW™ helps Eastern Ontario property owners compare more than a colour chip. We review how the finish looks in natural light, whether the selected roofing profile is available with that coating, the written finish warranty and the details of the complete roof system before the final order is placed.

Textured SMP Coating

WeatherXL™ Crinkle Finish

WeatherXL Crinkle is a two-coat siliconized modified polyester paint system designed for exterior metal products, including residential, commercial and agricultural roofing. Sherwin-Williams describes the system as providing strong weatherability and resistance to fading, chalking and scratching within the SMP coating category.

The crinkle surface is deliberately textured rather than mirror-smooth. That texture changes how sunlight travels across each panel, lowers the visual gloss and gives black, grey and brown finishes a deeper architectural appearance. On larger roof planes, the effect can help soften glare and create more variation than a smooth painted sheet.

For Eastern Ontario metal roofing, a low-gloss crinkle finish can suit country homes, cottages, lakefront properties, modern houses, garages and qualifying commercial buildings. It pairs particularly well with slate-inspired, shingle-style and clean architectural profiles where homeowners want permanent steel without an industrial look.

Premium PVDF Architectural Coating

Kynar 500® PVDF Finish Options

Kynar 500 is not the name of a roof panel or a colour. It is Arkema’s trademarked PVDF resin used by licensed coating manufacturers to formulate high-performance architectural metal finishes. Under the Kynar 500 licensing specification, qualifying coatings contain a minimum of 70 percent Kynar 500 PVDF resin by weight in the resin component.

Factory-applied PVDF systems are selected when long-term colour and gloss retention are major priorities. Arkema documents the use of Kynar 500 resin-based coatings on commercial, industrial, institutional and residential buildings, with a history extending back to 1965. The final finish is applied and oven-baked by approved manufacturers—not painted onto the roof after installation.

PVDF/Kynar 500 finish options are available through ROOFNOW™ on qualifying metal roofing profiles and colours. Availability is not universal across every panel, gauge or texture. The written proposal should identify the exact substrate, coating manufacturer, colour, finish designation and warranty so the homeowner knows precisely what is being supplied.

The Metstar MIT roofing selection featured by ROOFNOW™ is offered in three versatile crinkle finishes. Screen colours are approximate; always compare a current physical sample outdoors and beside the home’s brick, stone, siding, trim and windows.

Crinkle BlackA deep, low-gloss finish with bold contrast for contemporary, traditional and cottage architecture.
Crinkle GreyA balanced neutral that coordinates naturally with stone, cool siding colours and modern exterior palettes.
Crinkle BrownA warm, grounded finish suited to brick, wood tones, rural homes and Eastern Ontario cottage settings.

Eastern Ontario Roofing Conditions

Metal roofing planned for eastern homes, cottages and businesses.

Eastern Ontario is not one single roofing environment. An Ottawa suburban home, a Kingston limestone property, a cottage near the Bay of Quinte, a commercial building in Cornwall and a rural property in the Ottawa Valley can have different wind exposure, snow movement, access and architectural needs.

Ottawa & the National Capital Region

Metal roofing for Ottawa, Kanata, Nepean, Barrhaven, Orléans, Stittsville and nearby communities can be planned around neighbourhood architecture, roof complexity, snow movement and municipal property access.

Kingston & Frontenac County

Kingston-area roofing ranges from established urban homes to rural and waterfront properties. Slate, shake and standing seam profiles provide durable choices that can complement limestone, brick, siding and natural surroundings.

Belleville & the Bay of Quinte

Homes and businesses in Belleville, Trenton and the Quinte region can experience open wind, lake influence and changing seasonal conditions. A complete roof review helps match the profile, finish and detailing to the property.

Brockville & the Thousand Islands

Properties along the St. Lawrence corridor may combine waterfront exposure, mature trees, complex additions and historic character. ROOFNOW™ helps select steel roofing that protects the building without sacrificing curb appeal.

Cornwall, SDG & Prescott-Russell

Metal roofing is available for homes, farms and qualifying commercial buildings around Cornwall, Winchester, Casselman, Rockland and surrounding communities. Every proposal is based on the actual roof and project location.

Pembroke & the Ottawa Valley

Pembroke, Renfrew and Ottawa Valley roofs can face significant snow, exposed rural conditions and wide temperature swings. Underlayment, ventilation, flashings and snow-management details are reviewed as one complete system.

Snow, Ice & Spring Melt

Valleys, eaves and transitions carry concentrated water during melting conditions. Entrances, decks, walkways, lower roofs and equipment should also be reviewed when planning snow guards and safe drainage paths.

Homes, Cottages & Farms

Crinkle-finish steel shingles, slate-look roofing, shake profiles and standing seam can suit detached homes, waterfront cottages and rural buildings. The right system is matched to roof geometry, exterior finishes and budget.

Eastern Ontario Commercial Roofing

Businesses can consider standing seam and other suitable steel systems for long-term protection. Drainage, penetrations, rooftop equipment, operational access and phased work may influence the final specification.

Eastern Ontario Homeowner Questions

Eastern Ontario Metal Roofing FAQ

Common questions Eastern Ontario homeowners ask about steel gauge, snow, installation, crinkle paint, PVDF coatings and roof estimates.

What metal roofing products does ROOFNOW™ offer?
ROOFNOW™ offers Metstar MIT crinkle-finish roofing, Ideal Roofing Wakefield Bridge™ steel shingles, Vicwest True Nature™ Slate, Vicwest Cedar Creek™ Shake, Prestige standing seam, RARE Ironwood Shake, Heavy Shake, Slate Profile, European Tile and Ironwood e-Panel™ integrated solar roofing. Product, colour, gauge and regional availability must be confirmed for each property.
What type of metal roof is best for Eastern Ontario?
The best system depends on the building, roof slope, geometry, exposure and desired appearance. Options include Metstar MIT crinkle-finish roofing, Wakefield Bridge™ steel shingles, Vicwest slate and shake profiles, RARE architectural roofing and Prestige standing seam. The full assembly—including underlayment, ventilation, flashings and snow details—must suit the property.
What is WeatherXL™ Crinkle paint on metal roofing?
WeatherXL Crinkle is a two-coat siliconized modified polyester, or SMP, finish with a textured low-gloss surface. The texture changes how light reflects from the roof and gives the colour more visual depth. The featured Metstar MIT selection is available in Crinkle Black, Crinkle Grey and Crinkle Brown.
What is the difference between WeatherXL Crinkle and Kynar 500® PVDF?
WeatherXL Crinkle is a textured SMP coating valued for its low-gloss appearance and strong performance within the SMP class. Kynar 500 is Arkema’s trademarked PVDF resin used in licensed high-performance architectural coating systems. PVDF options are designed for premium weatherability and colour retention. They are different coating families, and availability depends on the chosen roof profile, gauge and colour.
Is metal roofing suitable for heavy Eastern Ontario snow?
Metal roofing can be an excellent Eastern Ontario option when the entire roof is properly assessed and installed. Snow movement must be planned around entrances, walkways, decks, lower roofs and equipment. Roof slope, structure, valleys, eaves, underlayment and snow-retention needs should be reviewed for the specific property.
Should I choose 26 gauge or 28 gauge steel roofing?
Both gauges can be appropriate when they are part of a compatible, manufacturer-approved roofing system. The correct choice depends on the profile, panel support, fastening design, building use, roof geometry and project goals. Some standing-seam products are also available in 24 gauge. Gauge should never be considered apart from the rest of the roof assembly.
Are concealed fasteners better for eastern Ontario weather?
Concealed-fastener and interlocking systems hide the primary attachment points beneath adjoining panels or roofing courses. This produces a cleaner finished surface and limits direct exposure of those fasteners to sunlight, rain, snow and ice. Correct panel layout, expansion allowances, flashing and installer workmanship remain essential.
Can a metal roof be installed over existing asphalt shingles?
Certain systems may be installed over an existing asphalt roof when the deck condition, number of layers, local requirements and manufacturer’s instructions allow it. Other properties require a tear-off so the decking can be examined and repaired. ROOFNOW™ determines the appropriate preparation after assessing the roof.
How do I request an Eastern Ontario metal roofing estimate?
Complete the ROOFNOW™ project form on this page or call 1-833-901-1649. Include the property address or community, building type, existing roof, preferred product or colour and any access information. Roof dimensions, slope, complexity, current materials, product selection and travel requirements all influence the quote.
